This traditional auditorium is suitable for a large orchestra concert or a smaller musical event. The room features a partial-thrust stage and two Steinway Pianos and seats up to 1,092 guests.

Pillsbury Theatre

Located at the 560 Music Center

A recently renovated classic art-deco space, the Pillsbury Theatre features a terrazzo floor and a Steinway Piano. Seating up to 300 guests, this spacious room allows for a variety of layouts and uses. It is the perfect fit for a reception or small concert.

Recital Hall

Located at the 560 Music Center

Suitable for a small piano recital or ceremony, this room features one Steinway Piano and can seat up to 50 guests.

Edison Theatre

Located in Mallinckrodt Center

Edison Theatre is the only fully technically equipped, proscenium thrust theater at Washington University in St. Louis and plays a varied role on campus.

Edison serves as a teaching facility for the Washington University Performing Arts Department, which produces three mainstage Edison shows each year and serves as a performance venue for Washington University student organizations.

Edison is also one of the few theaters in the St. Louis area to serve as a rental house for locally based presenting arts organizations such as The Black Rep.

At its capacity, Edison Theatre seats 656.

Officially named Samuel B. & Charles B. Edison Theatre, but known affectionately as “the Edison,” the theater’s construction was made possible through a generous donation from Mrs. Samuel B. Edison in 1972 and is named after her late husband and son

A.E. Hotchner Studio Theatre

Located in Mallinckrodt Center

The intimate A.E. Hotchner Studio Theatre, located in Mallinckrodt Center, is a 125-seat state-of-the art “black box” theater. As a dynamic and versatile performance space, the theatre is one of the premier venues for the Performing Arts Department season and is the home of the annual A.E. Hotchner Playwriting Festival. The A.E. Hotchner Studio Theatre measures 60′ (L) x 28′ (W) x 14′ (H).

Annelise Mertz Dance Studio

Located in Mallinckrodt Center

The Annelise Mertz Dance Studio doubles as a rehearsal and dance performance venue. Seating up to 125 people, this informal theater features lighting capabilities, a sprung floor and a Marley overlay. The Performing Arts Department utilizes the studio for classes, rehearsals, and performances such as the faculty showcase, Dance Close Up, and the student-produced, Young Choreographers Showcase. The Annelise Mertz Dance Studio is located in Mallinckrodt Center. The Annelise Mertz Dance Studio measures 61′ (L) x 36′ (W) x 14′ (H).
